The economy couldnt handle it the last time it went to $4/gallon. However people in the us have lowered their debts (many of us have anyways) so can better handle $4/gallon. I know I can now handle it but would rather not.

That's good news to hear. I imagine small cars or fuel efficient cars will again be all the rage. If gas goes over $4/gal GM's sale of Hummer will look very smart indeed.
As mentioned, I'd be happy to pay $4 a gal, it would be over 50% off to what I pay here right now.
