My guy and I rode up the coast on the weekend to go visit the parent. The parent is secondary to the great riding road.
On the wy back, I took us along a detour via a nice curvy back road rather than stay on the highway...which is also curvy...

I lost sight of him in my mirror....Huh?? Why is that red car in my rear view mirror? Huh??? Why is there another car in my rear view mirror????
So I found a place to pull over and turn around. I was riding back when I saw him riding toward me. So I turned around again and met up with him where he had pulled over to wait for me.

His first words....."Bad news. We need to get to a hospital"..... "I got stung in the nck by a wasp."
Me..."Are you allergic?"....
He..."Extremely"....."We have about 30 minutes"...

"OK...We're almost back at the highway and then it's about 15 minutes to the local hospital."

So...I picked up the pace and led him to the hospital...they took him right in.....jabbed him with adrenaline and then benadrine....

So...we did not catch the ferry we wanted...we had to hang around the hospital for awhile. Then when they let him go, we went for a walk around and a coffee to make sure he was ok.

So...we got back to our bikes....I could tell he was not up to par, so I kept one eye on the road and and one eye on him in my mirror. We got to the ferry and boarded, but he was still not too with it. So I left him to snooze while I enjoyed the outside decks.

I made sure he got home ok and then rode home to my place.

Remarkable that he was dressed head to toe ATGATT....but the wasp stung him in the couple of square inches that were exposed. Amazing...what are the chances?

The irony? When he was getting his gear on for the trip hom...he pondered wearing his neck tube....but since it was so hot..he folded it into his bag.....

It's like the time I was riding ho me through Manning Park with DrBar.....I was in gear head to toe...but the face shield was up because it was so darn hot....the only exposed skin was the cheeks and nose.....I swear the biggest hardest juiciest bug hit my cheek....eww..ick....aside from the ouch from the impact..it squished on impact and I could feel it running down my cheek....ick....

So far this summer I have not had any experiences with bugs and stuff.....but then I haven't really gone anywhere......knock on wood....the bugs will continue to find someone else.

Why is he not carrying a bee sting kit? My father, who was very allergic, had several- one for home, one for his car, and one he carried with him. Going out without a kit just wasn't an option.
