I put someone up who came in from Calgary. Then I met up with someone from Edmonton and went riding with him...a few of us went for a ride to Whistler and back.

If someone I have had regular contact with is coming through Vancouver....sure....
(or is that put up with them..... :P  )

Don't get me started, one of my dreams is to do a "Forum way round"

Get on a bike (after flying to the States) and go meet as many of the forum peeps as I can.

Any one comes to SA, I will show you some good ol' SA hospitality, put you up and feed you.

BBBAAAWWWAAAAHHH

our cats had a good feed when the cup was on, we pretended that they were all locked away in zoo's and parks and stuff. Poor tourist's never knew what hit them.

I think the Cobra's got a lot too though and the Leopards. Funny though, they spat the English right back out, must have tasted funny

I knew it was not my imagination......

Yesterday...August 1, 2010.....I awoke to find that is was pouring rain. So...I put the rain liner nto my riding pants, wore my bright yellow with reflective strips jacket over my riding jacket....waterproof insulated gloves...and my almost new Joe Rocket Sonic (supposedly) waterproof boots. (I even treated the boots with so called waterproofer)....

I left home a bit earlier and rode slower....

It was a challenging ride to work because of the fogging up of the glasses and the too tall windshield....(I have to wait for a few more weeks to get that cut down)....
I covered my bike at work just so that it wouldn't be rained on all day....even though it was already wet, the leather saddle bags didn't need to be rained on all day...

Not only did the rain not let up....like the weather people had said....it was raining even harder by the time I left work. So...I put on all my gear and packed up the wet cover into a plastic bag for the ride home....the rain drops seemed as big as ping pong balls....it was raining so hard it was hard to see. I rode home via the slower route so that there would not be as much road spray.
Oh yeah.....just before I left work, my guy sent me a yext message asking if I would like to stop by on my way home for a mug of hot chocolate....
Well....as I got closer....and being stuck in traffic in the middle of the bridge....I started thinking that I just wanted to go home. I finally got over the bridge but looking up McBride the traffic was backed up....I just wanted to go home...I made a turn off the main road intending to call him to tell him I was going home, but then I thought...he's not very far from here....maybe if I take a break from this monsoon and traffic jam, I'll feel better later....so.....I sent a text message asking him to open the garage door, please.....

So...he met me in the garage....he had moved his bike over to make room for mine.....once up in his apartment, he hung up all my dripping gear and provided me with a glass of wine and blanket for getting cozy on the couch while he made supper. :D

By the time I left there a few hours later the rain had finally stopped....

Today....the weather records stated that yesterday was the most rain in over 5 years and that was in a January.....We normally would not get that kind of rain in August.

Today was nice.....however...I had to wear my hiking boots for riding...my riding boots were still soggy inside from yesterday's ride. I think they got the labels wrong....instead of waterproof...the label should read water absorbing....and when I wrtie to Joe Rocket I will let them know that their water absorbing technology is superb.

My gloves have been fantastic....they are Power Trip (which is made by Joe Rocket...kind of like a higher end Joe Rocket...but no longer made) :( I have had these gloves for a few years and they have been subjected to many many rainy rides....they stay dry inside.....last night my gloves were very heavy from all the water...but inside...dry.....

The boots were not cheap...I expect better.....this is the third pair of riding boots that has made claims of being waterproof.....what a bunch of hooey.....I guess I'm on the search again....
