Thats part of the joy of living in a Country about the same landmass as Wyoming but with the populations of California and Texas.*

Seen what happens when lab rats have to live on top of one another?

This is a damn small set of islands with a hell of a lot of people on them. We used to export our nutcases to the rest of the world, now we arent even allowed to send them to Football matches....

* Statistics gathered from a quick googling, I have no other basis to consider them reliable...

maybe have them installed on habitual offenders? driving is a privalidge, not a right.
If you took everyone's car away no one would ever speed and polution would be greatly reduced. All car accidents would end.

If we are going to start taking control for eveyone - a device needs to be invented to stop people from doing anything but drive. Like a deadman's switch on a train. You must have your hands at 2 and 10 o-clock or the car won't keep moving. Also we need to stop serving hot coffee - people get burned.

Here's one for you, that is not out of possiblities. Let's take motorcycles away from everyone. They are mostly toys - not required transport for most. They add to polution (some quite a bit). Many are very loud - on purpose. Many are very fast and get ridden that way. So to stop the few bad, annoying, or dangerous riders we should all lose our bikes for the better of the world, right?

The answer is not to take away peoples freedoms and liberties.

Here's what I say. If you don't control yourself there are laws. We can't stop everyone from being free to behave or not. If you control everything you will have a very sad place to live. I'd rather keep my freedom to ride my bike, be able to speed and deal with the outcome.

I'm all for saving the lives of kids on the roads, and of adults too. The best way I can think of doing this is to have more cops on the road

Speed is a problem, but a minor one. Limiters and speed cameras are just a cheap, lucrative sideshow. In my opinion, humble though it may not be, technology always delivers far less than it promises. There is nothing like good old hands on monitoring. It's the only way to catch dangerous (as opposed to speeding) drivers.

As for driving being a privilege not a right, it's actually neither. It's just a necessary condition of the craziness of the way we organise our economic life.
