Moto GP @ Laguna Seca!!!

Getting ready for Moto GP this coming 4th of July. I can't wait because it will be my first Moto GP event. I've been to AMA races but never a Moto GP. Kev and I will be riding up on our motorcycles while the Girls drive his SUV up to Monterey. This should be a fun weekend. Im going to take a lot of pictures. Hopefully I'll get some good ones. :D

I've also got fresh rubber for stubby so she'll be ready to ride. I've just broke them in now they're all ready. It's going to be a fun weekend. :rocking:

be safe out there, Wrecks, i lived in Monterey for a year and a half and traffic is always horriffic when the races are in town. too many accidents involving motorcycles to count, most of them fatal to the rider.

Laguna Seca Moto-GP trip!

ImageImage
There was traffic coming up to hwy 35 due to an accident and a lot of people going to Half Moon Bay.

We started Friday the 3rd from SF at around 12:45pm. Our route was to go hwy 280, hwy 35, to Summit Road, to Soquel San Jose Road, to Hwy 1, to Salinas, to 'Motel 8'. That first leg of the trip was going to be 104 miles of twisties and regular Hwy driving. It would take us about 3 hours to get to 131 Kern St, Salinas, CA where Hotel 8 would be waiting.

ImageImage
Summit Road Has some of the most tight well paved twisties I've seen so far. Its like Bolinas Fairfax Road but better paved. It's a perfect supermoto road. We had to stop twice up there because there were forks in the road and we weren't sure which way to go. Fortunately for us each way we picked turned out to be the correct way. More to follow...

Mountain Biking at China Camp

The Other two wheeled adventure.

We (My bro, Joe, & I) went Mtn. biking @ China camp in Marin. Here's some history about it from the Camp itself. I took this excerpt from one of the description head boards about the area.

"A Chinese shrimp-fishing village thrived on this site in the 1880s. Nearly 500 people, originally from Canton, China, lived in the village. In its heyday, there were three general stores, a marine supply store and a barber shop. Fisherman by trade in their native country, they gravitated to the work they knew best. Over 90% of the shrimp they netted were dried and shipped to China or Chinese communities throughout the US."

"Everybody loves Kung-Fu fighting..."

The trails were fun. Basically cross-country riding with some climbing but nothing to crazy. It's a good trail to break a new bike. The weather was nice and there was the normal bay breeze blowing by the water when we stopped to rest at the main 'China Camp' area.

The end of the day came and we stopped at Rob's place for some refreshments and a small BS session. Rob and his wife were in good spirits and even bought a 2 liter sugar bomb also known as coke which I'm addicted to. After leaving Rob's place the end of the day had a surprise for us. As we headed back into SF on Hwy. 101 Veej's bike fell off the back of Joe's car. All I remember was running over a little bump in the freeway then seeing my bro's bike tumble end over end with cars swerving left to right to avoid the catastrophe. I quickly called 911 which in turn connected me to the CHP after a couple of minutes of putting me on hold. Fortunately for us some crazy bystander saw the incident and quickly pulled over and ran out into the middle of the freeway and hauled my brothers bike into his borrowed Mercedes Benz loaner SUV. The bike came back with only scratches on the handle bars and no other visible damage. Dam lucky if you ask me. Anyway, our next Mountain bike adventure will be in Downieville Ca. The meca for Downhill Mtn. biking.

Labor Day Group Ride

We had a fun filled weekend. First of all Reg & I went on a nice labor day ride with Ron, Veej, Bella, and Albert. We took Hwy 1, Bolinas/Fairfax, Lucas Vally road, then to Sausalito to eat at the burger place. After finishing eating we did Cozumel road then went home. It wasn't over. After getting home I went on a training ride around the city with Joe and Neil.

Monday, was a bit different Reg & I went surfing at Linda Mar beach with a bunch of the lifeguards from work. I had to teach surfing to the kids who attended our surf camp. The conditions sucked. It was mostly wind swell all bunched up. At least we got to test our camping canopy for this coming October camping trip.

The reward of the day came when we ate at Gorilla BBQ in Pacifca. This place has huge portions! one, two, and three meat combos! Prices range from 11, 15, 18 dollars for the combos. Taste wise this place reminded me a lot of "Brothers BBQ", in the city.

The funny thing is that Batman - Christian Bale was there too attending the same class as us. He seems to be a nice guy. Unfortunately, he (Bale) didn't have his bat bike.

Here's some video I took too. Part 1
