I'm making plans for my vacation time. I have over 4 weeks off.
I am going to take my car and head to the interior for a few days and then make my way east to the Alberta border and the Rocky Mountains. I feel like doing some serious photography.
I have never been to Banff or Lake Louise or the Columbia Icefields.....after that I want to head to Drumheller to see the dinosaur museum and the Alberta Badlands....
I am going in my car so that I can take my tripod and camera gear and warm clothes and boots....I may need them in the mountains....there is only so much stuff one can carry on a bike...
I have not decided what to do after the Badlands.....maybe head south...maybe head home....maybe fly somewhere.....maybe head east......
It will depend on whether I am tired of travelling alone, or the weather, or how my back and hip are holding out....
At any rate....I'll have maps with me so I can make the decisions later as I go.

Car, Rocky Mountains, camera, tripod, holiday, mountains, 4 weeks, Badlands, Banff, mountains, Columbia Icefields...
I think I'm going to stick my head in a bucket of compost and weep!

Sounds wonderful Blues! Enjoy! Enjoy!

Sounds like fun Blues, but if you are going to Banff, you best learn some of the local language first.
Good Morning is ohaiyou gozaimasu
Cup of tea please is O-cha kudasai
Where as Whistler is the land of Aussies, Banff is the land of Japanese.

Again, as
I have been continually hounding the poor boy to get over here. I even offered him the use of my Valkyrie once or twice... (Me thinks the boy is afraid he'll like a BIG bike... LOL)

[Edit! LOL. Totally misread your email when I wrote this Doc - thought you were suggesting I would be too scared to ride the Valkyrie. That's probably nearer the mark.]
Too damn right I'm scared of that monster, Doc - especially as it's yours and not mine. There's the OMG-what-would-I-do-if-I-dropped-it factor! Besides that, after years of riding a sports bike I'm not sure that my hips are aligned the right way any more.
Aye me. Wouldn't I just love to come over and see you guys. You saw me through the wost period in my life, and that kinda makes you like some sort of a cyber family. Sadly, the most holiday I am going to get for a while is a weekend trip to Brighton, UK. All the problems with the bike and problems with the house a couple of years ago have not done much for my bank balance in recent times. Mind you, I'm potentially for the chop at work in the next six months, so there is a chance of a small redundancy pay out...
I also have a very dear friend in Marin County, a cousin in Halifax and some close members of Di's family in Penn I'd love to see.
Cheers
Dick
