I type a blistering 30wpm.....
I have never been able to type fast....ever...although it was a bit better on a typewriter but now with a keyboard being a bit different than the typewriter, I often hit the wrong keys..
Also...when you refer to a typing speed it refers to typing with no errors......that would include punctuation, capital letters used where they should be used, spelling.....
If your typing has errors they get taken away from the speed.
Well that is how it used to be when we actually had to learn typing....I probably had my knuckles rapped a couple of times in school because I just could not get the hang of it...

All this typing speed talk got me curious, so I found an online test and did it.
I type about 30 wpm with my two flying fingers of fury...... while coping some inane text they provide.
I seen they rate wpm with one word consisting of 5 letters including spaces so I did my own test with me typing whatever stream of consciousness was rummaging around my head at the time and an egg timer..... over 60 wpm.
So data entry is probably not in my future, but professional B.S. slinger might be......

After a couple tests, my results are somewhere around 55-60 wpm. But I am not very impressed with myself at all because I have known how to type thoroughly and correctly since I was about 12 or 13, near ten years ago. So how do some people type 90-120 wpm? More horsepower?

I type at 80 wpm, but that is not much help to me since I appear to think at about 60wpm and I'm getting slower as I get older.
Still as more and more of my life appears to be dedicated to sitting in front of a pc, this is no bad thing. I've been touch typing for so long I have almost forgotten how to write - I get cramp within minutes.

I hear ya, I am the same way. I hated writing out by hand throughout high school and taking paper notes in college. By now I'd prefer to bring in a laptop to class and record notes using MS word. Hmm...
So now I need a laptop.

They still use that as a requirement of proper typing. I tend to proof read important stuff like school reports and documents, the internet not so much.

Procrastination works for me. When a report is due in 4 hours you'll be amazed at how fast your hands begin to move. Having a clear mind and not snacking while typing also help.
Lately I've been picky at how my keyboard should feel. The keypad on the MacBook is awesome and I cannot go back to the usual cheap and mushy keyboard.

Screw chrome bits. I always hated chrome and would rather have a matte color naked street fighter than a cruiser.
damn, I hear all these motorcycles go by and I'm stuck here because I need to save whatever tread is left on the front tire if I'm going to ride to the shop to get them replaced.

izzatso?
I type 64 wpm. it is very rare that someone who looks at the keyboard can type that fast.
I can type approximately 70 wpm (according to some typing programs) but the lights on the keyboard come in handy when I change my seating position to play games. When gaming the keyboard is more towards my left and the mouse is towards the right. Then when I'm back doing office work the keyboard is nearly centered. The light knob is pretty handy should I need to dim it or turn it off completely.
So what is this lighted keyboard that you have? The one pictured is the MS Sidewinder X6.
Ooh, maybe I should build an open computer so the internals are exposed like on a motorcycle.

I have the saitek eclipse. Much better than microcraps stuff. I would love to get razers new lighted keyboard though

ninja those bumps dont work when playing video games even so I go by feel and not look at my keyboard when I switch to gaming mode
