Glad you got your internet working again, so i guess after reformatting your drive, it wasen't necessary.

If you want them to actually do what they're supposed to you have to patiently but firmly insist that they send a tech out to check things after you go through their phone troubleshooting, when things are still broken.
When my contract with them is finished, I will go with someone else next time.

Glad to hear it works again. A fresh format is like a new pair of shoes, it's nice to have, but takes a while to get comfortable.
Windows recovery shouldn't wipe your HD, it should just roll the installed programs back to the specified date. Regardless, I'm excited for you.

Not a windows recovery, but a complete system recovery that puts the computer back to day one specs...
My fault for the address book, sorry

Telus is the Devil.
Well, that's not quite true. Telus is like a mentally challenged, in-bred, stammering, drooling, mentally defective version of the Devil. And in the end, they own the only actual, real-live telephone transmission lines this province, yours too, I believe. Any other 'phone' company you switch too only buys blocks of time from Mother Telus. Still, another company's tech support will probably serve you better than the failed burger flippers Telus hires, so switching can't hurt.
Do you have access to cable DSL? I can't imagine you don't in the greater Vancouver area. Definately worth a look if available, and your not too far from their distribution hub. The farther away from that you are, the slower the DSL.
I had cable DSL in Edmonton and it was fantastic. So fast it would burn your fingers if you wasn't careful. Where I am now, the only cable company to serve the area is based about 1000 miles away (and so is their hub) and the sevice is even slower than dail-up. I know cause I tried them.
Whatever way you choose to go, dumping Telus is the best thing you will ever do in this arena.
Telus can suck my
mutter, mutter, mutter, bastards....

DSL is a technology that operates over telephone lines.
By "cable DSL" you probably just mean "cable internet" or "cable broadband." Cable and DSL are two competing internet technologies.

When I lived in my condo, my friend across the hall had Cable. Apparently so did just about every other internet user in the building... With a hub a total of four blocks away, he had blistering speed when he was at work and couldn't use it, and snails moved faster than his pages when he was at home. I think there was close to twenty eight from our building alone that were on Shaw... probably all on the same hub.

Uh, yeah, that's what I meant.... aside from that, the rest of what I said (what Blues is actually interested in) stands.
Although if what Doc says holds true in Blue's area, another phoneline based company is probably the way to go.
And Telus can still eat my
grumble, snarl, spit, swear, incompetent fluckups...

I have a new computer question for the gurus here.
When you go to log in to a site, when you type the first letter usually a little window opens up with the whole word. Normally that would be fine. You click on the word and then it gets entered into the space.
There is a long runon word that appears in that little window and I want it to be gone. I have no idea why it is there unless I was typing under the influence of pain killers.
I have treid to clear out all cookies...even the hidden ones that don't expire until 2038...I have cleared the history and also cleared the auto complete history.
What else can I try to make the history go away?
