Today I participated in an area-wide mass-casualty incident exercise. The scenario was a bombing with a gunman who took hostages at the college campus in our town. There were about 10 different agencies who participated with a full set of moulaged victims that had to be triaged and treated. We ended up with 43 "dead" and 30 "live" victims who needed various treatment. All of our victims, including the 10 or so children, did a great job of staying in character throughout the exercise. Their reactions, in combination with the moulage makeup, were very lifelike and helped us to feel like we were in a real-life situation. It was a great experience - one that will certainly aid in my new work as an EMT.

I'm fully exhausted right now, having assisted in the lifting of over a dozen patients and then carrying them a full 200 yards to our treatment area. But no rest for the wicked - tomorrow morning is Ropes Rescue Team drill. Yikes!! - what have I done?!

Cheers,
Loonette

Well in a complete contrast to the preceeding post (Loonette you sure seem to be doing more and more work)... Yesterday I quit my job (WOOHOO) 1 more month and I'm outta there.

Ofcourse  I'll only be officially unemployed for 2 days before I start my next one

My hero! Teach me how, O great master! I'm desparate to leave my present job but can't work up the energy to do anything about it. I guess that's because I don't want a job at all, or at least one that I'm likely to find around here. In the meantime...

Sounds like great news, Nibblers. What's the new job?

Hahaha honestly, I've been looking for something for many many months and not found anything. Then I put a half arsed CV up on Monster, and the right job found me. Recruitment agency actually told me the company name upfront, which was rare enough to spark my interest.

Anyways, its Application Support Consultant, so I'm gonna be playing catchup, its not something I've ever really done before - although I have touched elements of it. So it should be a hell of a challenge and keep me interested

:D :D :D Go for it, man! Rub lots of little grey cells togeter, add 3oz of prime quality bullsh1t and 1/2oz of innocent surprise, keep your eyes and ears open and you'll serve them up a feast. Sounds like a real challenge! I'm envious.

Good luck

Richard

Blues- my wife got her hair cut real short a few weeks ago. (There's a pic of her in dr_bar's trip thread.) She thought the hair salon made it too short...... until she spent five days wearing her helmet, now she's liking it a lot! 8)

OK. Here you go.
Last year. It wasn't easy finding a pic without helmet hair. I had to do some searching through my files.

It's not easy getting a self portrait so that all of you is in the picture. I think it took close to ten pics before I went and got the tripod out so I could compose it half decently. Then of course....on the timer....it doesn't give a person to get "posed" properly.
