Every Step -- Charlie Winston
(strangely enough I've had this Charlie Winston album (Hobo) since Christmas and this the first time I have really listened to this particular song. It's mixture of sad and hopeful story reminds me of someone and I dont know how it was hidden among the other great tunes on this album until now. wierd)

One Step Beyond...........Madness
went to Germany in 1980 to stay with soldier brother & mend a broken heart. This song & lot's of other ska beat tunes were very popular at the beer kellar with the young squaddies, & so was I!

(Not my fave Django tune by far but the guy plays beautifully)... Back to my staple of Brit artists... that loopy, drug addled, guitar strumming, crazy diamond hisself...

Sigh. I miss British voices....well, sometimes. Been away too long. QM I prefer that Syd Barrett to the last song you posted (the musing one that sounded really sad even though the lyrics were not?), ..really nice.
Going with 2 as in two, this song has special significance for me after leaving a bad marriage and meeting someone else...

TMI.
It is so beautiful!!!

Great mix, from Sinead O'Connor's personal emotional songs to to dreamy Platters...
I'll throw in this classic... sombre... but Roger Waters version of hopeful, and thankfully with Gilmour pulling guitar duty...
Hey You --- Pink Floyd

That is one of the best tracks on one of the greatest rock album ever made. Why the snide comment about the guitar?

If bassists (most) could play the guitar very well, most likely they would not be bassists.
That being said, the genius level of Waters far surpasses Gilmour's. And I think the creepy vocal of Waters blends in so effectively with the much more "normal" vocal of Gilmour's, especially in this song.
And to keep the theme going, another classic song written by a true genius who is also a bassist...
Hey Jude - The Beatles.
