My point in this conversation is that as some of you think others are blind by faith, it can also be said that others are blinded by education. By that I mean that they think they are too smart to believe in some stupid faith thing. I just suggest giving both a shot.
Peace out.

The problem w/ an education is that people think it's the end-all be-all when it comes to knowledge or wisdom. There's a heck of alot that even the most knowledgeable doctors don't know. In addition, there are plenty of things in the Bible that have been proven scientifically, much to the chagrin of completely secular scientists.
It's all a bad topic for debating anyway, as many folks just dismiss the Bible as having no scientific value at all. It would be really beneficial for these folks to show that they aren't completely close-minded and read a book or sit in on a seminar pertaining to the topic.
Here's a good place to start -

As for gas prices and Hummers ...
Well, there are many people out there who just have the money to live however they want. I see plenty of 12-cylinder Ferraris and Porsche cayannes on the roads here in Italy - and fuel prices are over $6 (US) per gallon...
I don't fault 'em - It sure would be nice to have that kind of money!! But these people are far and away the minority here. If fuel prices keep going the way they are in the states, they'll soon be the minority in America too.

Guys dont fight, yes everyone has the right to own and run whatever they want, ive had several big american gas guzzlers over here and when you consider we are paying the equivilent of approx $1.80 per litre yes thats $9 dollars a gallon, (which has just gone up by about 36 cents since the hurricane) and i love em and the sooner i can get myself another one the better, i work hard for my money and i will spend it on what i want,
BUT
in times like these when i am asked to conserv my fuel usage because our country is sending whatever reserves it can spare to help out, then man im on my bike, cos she uses far less fuel.
And if i can do that for the american people, then surely the rich american people can too.
the crisis will soon be over and then we can all go back to our gas guzzlers

I just hate Hummers cuz I was stuck driving one for over a year in the Middle East. Sure it wasn't as luxurious but those things suck "O Ring" and I would never drive one again. I hate those things with a passion but to each his/her own. They can be posers if they want, cuz that's what they are when they buy Hummers instead of another SUV (Land Rover, X5, etc).

You usually make lots of sense and I usually agree with you and tip my hat to your motorcycle knowledge but I think you're off base here. On your first point... I just don't get it. I spend a lot of time with science geeks of all stripes - I don't know anyone who would call themself a 'scientist' who would turn their nose up at hard evidence, be it about the bible or anything else. Is it testable under controlled conditions? Is the test repeatable and can it be duplicated with the same verifiable results? That is all that is required for evidence of anything to be 'scientific'. I'm sure some of the things related in the bible pass that test. Quite a few do not however. that doesn't limit the use of the bible for it's intended purpose, which certainly was not as a science text.
On the second point, I am definitely one of the folks that dismiss the bible as having no scientific value at all. It simply doesn't. One can apply science to things they see in the bible, but applying the bible to hard science is, I don't know, it's just kind of weird. Why even try? There's no atomic weights listed in the bible. The pythagorean theorem isn't in the bible. The bible was intended to guide people spiritually and it does a fine job for many people. Bringing it into the science classroom is counterproductive and frankly, pointless.
