Be careful with iTunes.

Unless you're downloading one of the new, more expensive, DRM-free tracks, you cannot listen to the file EXCEPT in iTunes or on an iPod, so you can't import it into slideshows.

Even if you do get a DRM-free track, it's AAC encoded, not an MP3. Your slideshow program may not be able to import AACs.

It's getting more complicated and more dangerous (spyware and malware) finding music online these days. There are no really "easy" ways the way it was easy when Napster was big. Bittorrent and newsgroups are fairly complicated and straight P2P programs like Limewire either hardly work or come with massive amounts of spyware.

If I buy online, then who shall I use?

I don't know of any legitimate online music stores that will let you buy that buy that track without locking you into a certain DRM-compatible program or music player.

The only way to obtain a non-DRM version of that track is to illegally download it via Bittorrent/Usenet/Limewire/AllOfMP3 or to obtain a CD and rip it yourself.

bittorrent isnt complicated..

steps:

1. download bittorent
2. go to google, and type in something you want to download with a bittorent at the end... for example if you download the harry potter, soundtrack, type in "harry potter soundtrack bittorent"
3. download the bittorent and open with uTorrent.
4. voila, it will start downloading
5. usually takes 20-30 seconds to do.

If the torrent is from a reputable site and the uploader of the torrent has a good rep, it's pretty safe to download.




Limewire works most of the time for me and I have about 800 songs from Limewire (years ago). I wouldn't recommend using limewire anymore because hackers are programming viruses into the mp3 itself.




Yeah.. buying from itunes is sort of a dog.. If you buy the song, then you can only play it on like 3 other computers that you give authorization to... its kind of ridiculous.

Keep in mind it's illegal. As long as you're ok with that then do it.

iTunes does have DRM free stuff now - and iTunes tracks can be used on your own PC in videos..I've done it before.

Someone sent it to me.

I now have it on my computer so I can put it in the photoshow for my sister.

i have a good question, everytime i plug headphones in it shocks me(from the headphone jack) and everytime i try to unplug/plug in something to the back it shocks me. are machines rebelling or is my pc just rude?
