I've got an XS650 I'll sell you for what you owe on the B-King. :D
No way, I owe nothing on the B-King. But from what I've been reading - the 'middleweights' are the sweet spot for great bikes. The G750S is a little bit big, but, it is also tiny compared to my B-King.

The dealer I'm looking at has a FZ6 and a Z750S. I'm going to sit on both and if they give me enough money to be clear, taxes tag and everything + a little cash on my side, I may just go for it.

Weird, from online sources, the Z750S (man I think I've been writing G - too many letters) gets better mpg than the FZ6. No appreciable difference in weight, either. Weird.

that is weird. it also seems to sport a little more hp. on this site i saw 107 for the kaw and i think the fz6 has something like 94-98 (somewhere in there). curious to know how things turn out for ya. you should have gotten one of those buells when they were blowing them out.

So, I made up my mind. They had a FZ6 there and I looked back and forth between the FZ6, Z750S and a couple of older concours. In the end I decided against the very useful Concours... I just don't want a big bike again. Even though they felt good when I sat on them and the center of gravity much be relatively low. I know... probably would have been a great commuter. They had a 2005 Concours, but with the dollars I got for the B-King, I didn't want to put more in. They had just got an older Concours - that was a really nice blue with 30K miles on it, but after I sat on it I made up my mind.

The Z750S was really great to sit on. I really liked it. But, the clutch was really loose. Not the arm itself, but the part that it mounts to - the dealer blamed this on its adjustable nature, but I passed on it. I know how the clutch should move and that wasn't it. Too bad, it was a bit cheaper than the FZ6.

So, I bought the FZ 6 - sitting in my garage.

A lot of differences between the FZ6 and the B-King. Lots good - a heck of a lot of good - and a couple of bad things. Just annoyances.

The dealer is way out in Andover. It was a trek. By the end of the process the girls were cranky, the boys were still having a ball - going from quad to quad. The didn't allow test rides. So, I was buying the bike a bit blind. They were closing up. But fortunately, they didn't play any games once I had made my mind up. I had some cash in hand. Titles were signed and I was out the door. I started the bike up with no problem and off I went.

Of course it was a long ride home and my wife took off with the kids as soon as we finished dinner at a nice restaurant a couple miles south of the place. So, there I was, all I needed to do was focus and ride 50 or so miles home. Just go West on Route 80 until I get to 287 South, and then 24 to 78 to GSP then home.

Weeeell... Except for one small fact. You see, I spend the vast majority of my time East of where Route 80 hits Route 287.

I get to realize my error a load of miles down Route 80 west when I get to see signs that say "Delaware Water Gap - 11 miles". Of course, I had didn't buy gas after leaving the dealer because I was going to ride straight home and it seemed like it had half a tank. Now there was only 1 bar left on the gauge (and who the hell knows how many miles that works out to? not me).

I get off on Exit 4(!) on Route 80 and get to be greeted by a sign saying "Welcome to NJ" (How the hell know where I came from, wait a second, no I was always in NJ).
Filled up a Shell, turned around - rode for at least 20 miles before I caught back up to where 206 intersects 80 and finally was on my way home. Freezing my "O Ring" off.

I ended up putting about 113 miles on the bike on my first day. All from sometime after 9PM and in the dark. Fortunately, the controls are almost identical to my B-Kings and the feel of the bike is so much like a slightly larger Ninja 250 that it really didn't bother me much.

The only pics of me and the B-King.

Anyway, things could have gone a lot worse - as I recently read an article about an experienced rider that died the day after he bought his new bike. Speaking of which, maybe I won't ride tomorrow. At least not until I've read through the manual.

well, obviously i think you made a great call. i too have an '06 blue and black fazer. when you get a chance, drop on over to www.fz6-forum.com and introduce yourself. it's one of the best forums i've been on and there's some great info about our bikes over there.

one thing i'd do asap is get some frame sliders on there. don't want to drop her and scratch up all that pretty plastic.

Yeah, definitely don't want to mess up two bikes in a row - and this new one has no scratches. 3100 miles and no mods.

I just registered at the site - and read that the FZ6 is going awa y. Fortunatle, long life of the existing model isn't why I bought the bike. FZ8 I more hp and more weight - both of which I was working on getting away from.

Well, actually, the hp wasn't so bad. I have to work a lot more riding the FZ6.

Thanks man! After purchasing the bike and getting home all late and stuff, one of my girls just didn't want to go to sleep. She's at the point where she can stand in her crib, and look at her sister, but she doesn't want to fall down. So she stands there screaming and wakes her sister up. Bleh...

So I ended up staying up until 2AM. Finally I gave up and put cordelia in the play pen and let her scream it out until she passed out. Joy...

My turn to donate blood. I missed the one at my work a little while ago and they start calling me like a girlfriend that really wants to get back with you. Something I'm certainly not used to... In fact, never happened.

It just so happens that I'm O positive and I produce twice the platelets that normal people do. I got a letter telling me that I can save twice as many lives if I donate platelets. Who knows - they really don't have their act together - there is something called the ALIX machine or something - that takes platelets and returns the plasma - which is their most advantage with me. But if they made the appointment for that - or if it will even be at the place I'm donating - who knows?

Anyway, I think (very sanctimoniously) that all bikers should donate blood. We can never know when we'll need the blood ourselves...

Definitely good to donate blood. Mom has O+ too and they hound her for blood. She doesn't mind though.
I usually donate, but in my accident, my ACL tore in half and they gave me a cadaver ACL, so I have to wait a year before I can do it.
