Hello guys, I am an unashamed Japanophile when it comes to bikes, because they are so reliable.
My bike is a 2006 "school bus yellow" 250R Ninja. I love her. Before this bike, I had a silver red/black 2005 that some hag in a suburban just HAD to run me off the road with after only two months of ownership. So, I got a 2006 in yellow...too bad lime green was not available this year.
I am not some noob fresh out of a cage, I have been riding since i was 17, and I am 24 now. In my time, I have ridden fast bikes also...including a 1986 V-Max (WOW!), and a 1977 GS750 (Smooth!!!).
Before these bikes, I rode a 1986 250 Honda Rebel for 4 or 5 years...on the highway. 56 miles, there and back. Needless to say, I got it with over 18,000 on the clock, but it gave up the ghost at over 28,000, after a midlife crisis of being ridden beyond it's limits. It was a great bike, may she rest in peace, along with my 2005 Ninja 250R.
At any rate, I love my Ninja, and will rejet the carbs, put on some chrome pod filters and remove the airbox, and put on some slip-ons...in about 6 months or so.
My Ninja is my only vehicle, so I am glad she is as reliable as a Swiss watch, but thousands cheaper.
Oh yeah, and finally, in the Feb. 2006 issue of Cycle World, the 250R WON against a slew of other gas-sipping opponents.
Go Ninja 250R!!!
Sorry, I just love my bike. She treats me better than my ex girlfriend, and she is a much cheaper date.
