Yep. I thought I wrote that in there, you aren't as involved in gun rights the same as I'm not as involved in marriage rights. (Sorry about the terms used 'gay rights/marriage'. I'm really left holding my butt on what's the informed/nonoffensive/pc/polite/personal preference thing to be said)
Oh whoops - I hope you didn't think I was directing that at you! It's more just a general rant on how we always seek to make people different when we're really not. I'm not easily offended, it's just one of those things that makes you go "really?"

It's in and it looks Obama had won. Texas had a load of votes for McCain but the tiny states like the ones on the eastern seaboard all wanted Obama either because they are Democrats or the other ethnic groups decided to vote this time because Obama is black (and the people who voted for him in NY made this clear).

I'm hoping that the changing of the guard will help this country, even though I think McCain would have been a better choice (Ron Paul would be the best but oh well...).

Let us all blame the election proceedings on race now that Obama has won! If it had been a white democrat running against Mccain, he or she wouldn't have stood a chance...

This girl in my class called Obama the anti-christ. And then tried to tell me this country is going straight to hell and taken over by communists!!!

While I don't think he's the anti-Christ, I do think McCain would have been better.

I will respect President-Elect Obama, but that does not mean I will agree with what he chooses to do. I don't agree with most of his political ideals infact, but I believe he still deserves respect.

My biggest concern is what sort of damage now a Democratic controlled House and Senate with a Democratic anti-gun President, can do to 2nd Amendment rights, the economy, increasing entitlement programs funded on the backs of the middle class, etc.

Unfortunately also, he's going to likely appoint a Supreme Court Justice during his term, which we do not need right now, as we finally got the thing halfway balanced. We surely don't need it to swing back to the left at this point in the game.

Hopefully he does a good job, but I have some serious doubts as to how well things will turn out.

I have to say though, I honestly believe race did have at least something to do with it. Right down to nobody on the news wanting to bring up anything negative about Senator Obama, when they'd dig up all sorts of stuff on McCain. SNL wouldn't make fun of Senator Obama but had a lot of fun making fun of Senator McCain and Governor Palin.

I firmly believe that, at least in part, this was due to idea that somehow it's ok to make fun of white people, but it's racism to poke fun at blacks. You know Rev. Jackson, Mr. Sharpton and others would have been up in arms if anyone had the audacity to poke fun at Senator Obama in the media.

It also seemed like the media played a lot more incorrect or out of context quotes from McCain/Palin than from Obama/Biden. Hard to tell who their favorite was.

I agree, there was probably some racism on both sides in play. Personally I have no problem with the idea of a black President, just as long as he's conservative. I don't have a problem with President Elect Obama being black, I have a problem with his liberal points of view on most of the important issues.

Posted a rant as a bulletin on myspace... Triggered by the story that 20% of voters saying that race was a big deal in this election... Those who voted for McCain because of race and those that voted for Obama because of race are all racists in my book. Votes should be about the issues...

All the press coverage and many people who voted for Obama made race the issue not me. The press made it out for the black community to finally have a voice with having the 1st black president. The supporters, esp. the ones they interviewed in NYC, stated that this is historical to vote for a black man to show that the "racial" barriers are torn down. Then I saw an interview where the people in Harlem went on to say that they vote for him because he is their kind. So don't make me out to be a racist.

I just prefer a war vet. if I can't get someone who is more in touch with the world such as Ron Paul since I believe a man like that can handle the pressure under fire. Plus I like gun ownership.

A note: I'm tired of people using the term race because last time I checked people of different skin color and ethnicity can procreate with eachother which in essence makes us all one race... a screwed up one at that.

Here's hoping to a healing country, Bush and co. can kiss my @ss.

And there is no doubt that many black people gave Obama their vote mostly if not all because he is of their race. But I assure you, there are plenty of people around us who voted for McCain simply and only because he is not black, but because he is white. Obviously a black presidential nominee can't possibly avoid any racial discrimination, but nor could have Hillary Clinton avoided any favoritism toward her or against her gender if she had won the primary. But I don't think Barack Obama's victory was due to his skin color. If you want to blame anyone for the results of this election, you can blame George Bush and Dick Cheney and most of the republican senate and house for backstabbing this nation, soon allowing the democrats to regain power all throughout Washington today, partially as well in 2006. This is what happens when you vote for a neo-con not just once, but twice, allowing him to hijack the 2000 election and instill fear into American people permitting him to wage war under false impressions and for phony reasoning. You can thank President Bush for a forthcoming Barack Obama. But don't place blame onto black people because your candidate and vice-candidate lost. Lost like they were destined to lose for too many reasons.
