Sorry to hear that triumphgirl. what I dont understand is why you truly need a block heater. My car has started at -85F before which is about -65C. It is quite often -20F to -25F here and everything except the bike will start. sounds to me more like you need to change the oil to a less thick oil in your vehicle and a new battery with enough cca's. I can understand a block, however, for a diesel.
It was 60 the last 2 days so I took the bike for some 20-30 mile trips muwhahahahaha. Then I paid some more down on my cruise and now its in the 30F range and raining =[

It will start, it is very hard on the vehicle, in Alberta it gets just as cold. I still think it shouldent be an "option".ofblong wrote:Sorry to hear that triumphgirl. what I dont understand is why you truly need a block heater. Today was amazing. Actually, so was yesterday.
done about 200 miles on the bike in the last 3 days. building my back up to being able to take being on the bike for extended periods of time. The knees are already there thankfully. Also drank enough for 3 people.

Today I have worked on my RC helicopter and tried to fly it. It has a pretty bad wobble that I need to find the source of.
Later I am taking Julie (wife) to a doctors appointment.
Then hopefully I will go have an Irish Car Bomb or two with my brother. Didn't make it over there yesterday for it.
Better late then never.

Changed the oil in my truck, van, motorcycle as well as all filters. Went with a synthetic blend in all vehicles so we shall see how that does. So far I notice better shifting on the bike. Also I found my parents (they gave me the truck) always had someone else change the oil. which of course is why the oil pan bolt was so tight I had to use a hammer on my wrench to get the bolt loose and then the oil filter was so loose that I barely touched it and it started moving. No wonder it was using a quart of oil a month.
Oh and I also adjusted the idle of the bike and cleaned the choke cable (it was quite "rusty"). So got the choke button/cable operating so now it actually goes back in when its let go lol. Also adjusted the idle ment no more "popping" sounds when slowing down. I always thought it was from whomever installed the jardin pipes didnt rejet the jets but eh thats ok. Oh and I also found a loose hose on one of the carbs so I tightened that up as well (prob another reason I was getting popping). So hopefully I now have a better running machine lol. I should spend some time to take the carbs apart and clean them but then I would have to take the gas tank off and thats just more work than I want to deal with since I would also have to drain the gas and I havent quite figured out where the gas drain is lol.
