I'm glad to see the GV pulled a Cool.

When I was shopping around for another bike (PowerSlave of course being the end result), I looked a GV650 a guy was selling. As is so eloquently mentioned in the voting posts, I overlooked it time and time again in my search because I assumed it was a Chinese bike. The thing sure looked damn cool though, I can't explain why I like that tubed-out frame and all the funky panels, but it just looked HOTT. So I finally pulled up the sellers description and found out that it wasn't Chinese.

I damn near bought it, but in the end I was afraid it wouldn't have enough power to drag my fat "O Ring" around. I know the HP numbers are high, but the torque was somewhat lacking. Also, there was a lot of complain about the LCD being impossible to see in the sun, and there was no aftermarket support whatsover. I'm a loud-pipes guy, so...

But, I've been recommending this bike to friends thinking of buying. Mainly I want someone I know to buy it so I can borrow it for a zip up the canyon. (-:

1991 Suzuki VX800



I always wanted one of these bikes...loved the look of them...the basic drive train (including the shaft drive) is currently in the Suzuki Boulevard M50.

I've always liked the VX800 myself too, quite the odd ball Suzuki, a bit of cruiser, sportbike and naked all mixed up in there. Unfortunately, I really don't have enough information (as per my liking, not that I don't have enough information) on 1970-1999 models, so if you could find one in the last 12 years (2000-2012) that would be ideal.

That is one of the great side benefits of doing the Cool Wall each week with a different bike. So many people want to know the pros and cons of a motorcycle model and if it's "cool or not" as well. To be honest, I've never rode a Hyosung before but I have admired and sat on them in the showrooms (I really have to take one out soon).

Like yourself, I like the feeling of torque (although it used to be horsepower) but torque is what you feel when you accelerate (my fav), horsepower is good for top speed but I'm more of a stoplight GP guy than a flat track racer. :green:

I've love to buy a used Harley-Davidson Fat Bob (say, 2008), but at $10k, thats rich for my blood, I might have to stick with cheaper bikes.

Dunno 'bout a Harley, I've never cared for them myself even before I was into bikes. But definitely go to a Harley dealer and ask to see their used inventory -- with their attitude towards metric bikes, maybe you can pick up a Victory Kingpin on the CHEAP like that guy in that post a week or so ago...

Sorry, I missed your post there again till now...

I really like the Victory motorcycle line, for me, the Hammer S is my favorite, I have liked it before Harley-Davidson brought out the Fat Bob and still do. Not many on the roads and they are not that common used but a few around. Very well priced used IMO.

Re: Metric bike attitude: Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how your view it), there will always be fierce loyalty to any brand, Harley-Davidson has expertly built up their loyalty levels via heritage, product and marketing. Metric bikes are viewed as "non-American" and thus "different", although today most of the parts that make up a Harley-Davidson is not made in the USA anymore (ie, assembled in the USA), and in fact, (I have heard) Victory has more parts made in the USA.

I'd be happy to own, fix and ride any brand.

How about a sport touring bike, since that is what I am considering for my next bike...2012 Triumph Sprint GT...I just love the sound of those tripples!!

I know we are doing a sport touring bike right now, but how about the 'budget option' on the genre...

Funny enough, I keep forgetting about that one myself as well... I'll put it in the running for next weeks Cool Wall bike.
