Is your bike a 79 Ninja? If that's the case, no one will steal your bike - unless you left the keys in the ignition. I look at it this way. I have insurance that has theft coverage. If my bike gets stolen it will be a hassle, and cost me deductable, but that is the way it goes. Criminals suck and they are out there.
Here's the rule as I see it though to avoid theft. Do as much as you can to make it a pain to take your bike. Disk lock -yes, that is a good start. If you can find a way to carry a cheap bike cover, even better. If you can carry a chain, even better. Lock it to something - one more better step. Somewhere hard to get to with a pickup or van - because this his how they lift them - and they can do it with the disk lock and the alarm going off. See what sucks is if they want your bike, they are going to get it - no matter what you do. But if you make it a big hassle, they are more likely to avoid the bike.

I park in a public place, and I hae theft insurance. It's a $500 deductable, if someone wants my bike bad enough, they will get my bike.
I just pay my premiums to make sure that if they take my bike I can get a new one.

what he said...if the guy is motivated, he'll take it.
a friend of mine had a brand new gixxer 750 locked up to a pole in front of macys....apparantly, the "thieves" couldn't take the lock off or brake it...so they took off the wheel instead and took the bike...
when i take it somewhere public, i just go ask the guard if he could watch it for me....and then you park it right next to them....just be nice to them, and they'll help you out.....
...now if it's somewhere like macys, just try to find the most crowded spot(usually close to the front dooe) and park it there....and if there is a security guard walkin around...ask him to keep an eye on it...

On the contrary! If he has a '79 Ninja it's probably the only one in existence and therefore a prime target
(I don't think Kaw used the Ninja name until the latter part of the 80s)

Yeah, I guess Ninja79 must be refering to a birth year of said user. You're right, that would be a rare bike.
