If your looking to spend under $9000, then the FZ6 might fit the bill pretty well. I dont think the FZ6 is considered a sport-tourer, though. To me the prime considerations for long trip riding would be seating position, leg room, and the size of the tank. Of course you need a decent windscreen and probably saddle bags. The top sport-tourers I believe would be the ST-1300, the FJR-1300, and the VFR(Interceptor). The previous 3 are well over 11,000 though. Oh and how could I forget the Sprint ST.

If I were to pick up a sport-tourer, my dream would be to pick up a K1200S and spend some money to make it suitable for long trips. I hear the ABS on the K1200S is a bit wonky, but maybe by the time I can afford one, those things will be ironed out.

Did I mention that my AVERAGE mileage on the Rockster (R1150R) is 42-46 mpg?

You can get a NON-ABS version for around $5K. Check out dealers and HERE:

As I've posted before, my wife rides a Triumph Trophy (1200cc version), and I ride a Bonneville. Both great bikes, but mismatched in capabilities. I've got to sell a couple of bikes (would someone please buy that Marauder!!), then I'll be in the market for a sport tourer or adventure tourer. Some likely candidates are V-Strom 1000 (new or used) and Triumph Tiger (used). Maybe even another Trophy.

I also discovered the IBMWR marketplace site, and have been prowling. K bikes don't appeal, for some reason neither do R/GS bikes, but I'm thinking a R1100RS or R1150RS might do the trick. BMW is the only brand I'd ever consider buying a 8 or 10 year old bike.

(And no, please don't suggest a Kawi Concours. All due respect to those that own 'em, but I think they're UGLY..... ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly!!!! :x )

Oh my...that BMW is nice...

...oh my :D and it even comes in red! And I saw a pic of one with hard bags, looks fantastic.

I'd been planning on buying new, of course if I can find a used one that would be better.

I like so many of these bikes, its so hard to choose!

Have you considered the Kaw Z750? It's got a very comfortable riding position. Much like my Nighthawk.

If you are looking for a nice Honda Nighthawk 750 you can go to:

http://wowmotorcycles.com/ and look at what they have for Honda. They have 7 Nighthawks for sale right now. The prices range from $2970 to $4970 (2003 model with 2341 miles). I bought a Nighthawk 750 from them last year for $3800 with 10K miles on it. It continues to run like a champ and looks as though it were still new. I have talked to several folks that have bought from them and all are extremely satisfied with their purchase.

My :twocents: worth.

Thanks Chip!

I dont live in GA though, and I'm a little nervous about buying a bike that I've never seen.

I checked them out and they have a huge used bike inventory. I'll keep this in mind when I'm ready to buy.
