yeah, i am more lenient now in doing pre-ride inspections.

anyway... the owner's manual and the riding tips booklet i got has info on the pre-ride inspection. i don't need a shop manual for that.

eh?

why would i need a shop manual for these?

1. check tires
2. check the controls
3. check lights
4. check oil and coolant levels
5. check chain
6. check sidestand
7. check brakes

i only said inspecting them not fixing. although some of those, i can fix on my own.

Why would you need a bulldog stand to do any of those?

i don't need it.

like said, i just wanna make it faster and easier to clean and lube the chain.

and of course, investing in stands is always a good idea. i can use it too when i get to have some trackdays.

Oh, I dunno, maybe so you know what the proper settings are, and in case you want to adjust them, how to adjust them, where the adjustments points are.... useless stuff like that..... not to mention what to look for if problems crop up.

I predict your mechanic will soon dread your appearance on his doorstep and either shrug you off or start charging you out of his life.

'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' didn't cover this, I'm sure.

Buzz, I'm starting to think you are right. He doesn't really want to learn how to do it the right way. He is more interested in looking cool. Besides, he already has all the answers. Problem is he still doesn't know what the questions are.

nope, im just confused.

my owner's manual has the right settings and how to adjust them.

what's in the shop manual that the owner's manual doesn't have regarding the pre-ride inspection?
