Jeff, what you need is a Z750 Kawaski. They have left over '04s kicking around here in Calgary for $7500 and it is a very similair bike to the 599 but with extra bottom end punch. Don't let the engine size fool you, there is not alot of difference between the two of them. Ask Mashby, he used to have one("great bike, but not very semi-truck resistant" )

Good to hear your on the mend Skooter. And bike shopping.

Bike, Boat and RV trader color ads in the front...Blackfoot in Cowtown lists '04 599's for $7499.....

Kawi Z-750's are a very nice bike too, like Bruce suggested.

Ride On, Dude! Keep it on it's wheels.....

They are a nice Bike.Personaly I would pick one over the 599.As bruce not a great deal of difference in the power and you have more toque with Z aswell as Fuel Injection. In all the UK mags the Z750 won hands down on comparisions tests. To this day I still dont know why this bikes isnt more popular and if you want to got touring you could buy the fairing on the Z750S.

Talked to them, they're all out. Even if they weren't frieght and assembly is $850, compared to $250 around here. So that's an extra $600 + I've been told they're known to manufacture other "add-ons". Of course I don't completely believe the dealer who was telling me this. I also told him there was no way I could afford to drop 9.3k on a bike. So I'd be back if the price drops.

I got home a little late on Sat to be out shopping, everyone had closed. So I'm hoping to get home early enough on Monday to at least call around and see who has what. Unfortunately most dealers have a stupid rule about not quoting prices over the phone. But I can at least find out what is in stock.

I was looking at a SV650, but I don't find it as comfortable as the honda. And if I'm going to be spending as much time in it as I intend to, well to be honest I'd rather spend the extra $$. Hopes are high, spirits are a little low as once again there is no bike in the garage.

However as an evil joke I have told my friends that I ride with that I have simply taken my bike in to get it fixed again "the gastank is rattling, I think I knocked a bracket loose." When I get my new bike I'm going to invite them out for a ride. And surprise the crap out of them.

I will however be looking into the kawasaki. That's a nice red color. The hunt is on.

Oh, and I might be looking to make a good friend in Calgary sometime soon. At least someone who would be willing to meet me at a bust station and give me a lift to the store. There would be at the very least a meal and drink in it for you. Plus a couple of guaranteed corny jokes. I've been told that I'm not very funny.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Good luck on finding your new bike and glad to hear you're doing pretty well. The 599 is a good bike, but I didn't like the ergonomics as well myself, and the price was much higher than the SV650. I ended up getting my brand new SV1000 for less than the new 599 at the Honda dealership. Plus, I like the V-Twin naked look better than I-4. Much sleeker, but that's all personal opinion.

Just keep searching out there, because there is always a deal to be had. Sometimes you get real disappointed because you can't find what you want at the price you need, but sooner or later, one will show up.

See, told you your jokes weren't funny. Buy you a bike? After the degrading and humiliating things I went through to buy mine? Ha! That reminds me, I came up a little short on my bike money, and I knew you'd want to help, so when Fanz and Helmut show up at your door, just put on the leather shorts with the tassles they give you, close your eyes, and go to your 'happy place'. It will be over soon.... 30-40 minutes at most.....

And thanx, eh.
