I wondered why I seem to get buttsore for about the last 3 years or so, and one day it came to me--I quit smoking about 3 years ago, so no longer stop every 1/2 hour for a cigarette. So now I stop about once an hour just to walk around, and it helps a lot.

my sporty will go 202 miles on a full tank with a little to spare. I haven't found out yet how far that is as I too don't like pushing my bike!
Price per fill-up is my beef. Even though I get better mileage then my cage I still hate to see how much that 4.5 gallons costs me and how it seems to keep costing more and more!!!

So let me get this straight. Cigs are no good for your lungs, however they were good for your butt?
Sound about right?

You must have an oversize tank on yours, LW. The standard Sporty tank is about, what..., 3gal?
I'm with you on the fuel costs... I filled up my gas can for the lawnmower today and almost cried. I spent over $10 for lawnmower gas!

That's right. Cigs are good for yer butt, cuz you gotta stop all the time to light up, thereby giving yer butt a rest.

note: someone mentioned to me that there are larger fuel tanks for sportbikes available on ebay.
NOTE TO HIGH_SIDE (re his VTR1000), boost fuel capacity from 16L to 20+ L, but it was something like $1500 unpainted.
For dualsport bikes, there are Clark, IMS, and others available...

There was actually a guy in eastern canada with the 19l version for about $800 unpainted. I have considered this, but then think "how much longer will I have this bike anyway"? I've been thinking this for 4 years.....

my bmw r850r gets about 50 mpg which is acceptable but what really interests me is this diesel bike that Kawasaki built for the army. Reports put it between 100 and 150 mpg. I e-mailed Kawasaki twice but have never received a reply. Go Figure

1995 Honda Magna 750... low was 35 with a big Memphis Shades on while commuting on the interstate. Took it off and now I average 40. 36-ish when I'm throttle-happy, best ever was 44.
