I know many people ask the same question as me, but I don't have time to go through all the posts, lol.

Anyway, I'm a total newb when it comes to bikes. I've ridden a dirt bike once, but i know that doesn't really count. I'm looking for a bike as my main mode of transportation, my car broke down really bad and I don't want to go buy another car. I want a bike that is real comfortable, but I don't think I want a cruiser, I'm not sure yet.

I know I don't want anything over 600, but I want to still be able to go real fast if I want to. I want to be able to drive comfortably for long distances. Want to drive at 80mph with no problem as well.

Got any recommendations?

1. Welcome to the forums
2. Read the stickies at the top of the New Bikers forum
3. You don't have time to read what's already posted, but we have time to answer your questions (which have been asked over and over again ad infinitum)? If you want to be taken seriously, you need to take up some of the burden. Do some background reading & research, develop some starting opinions and questions, then come back and ask for clarification, details, etc. Truthfully, your criteria are so broad, a hundred different bikes could fit. You gotta invest some time narrowing down your needs and desires. Don't expect us to do that for you.

When I get the time I'm going to check out the stickied topics and all that.

I heard that Honda and Kawasaki are really good. Saw a few people here say that Hondas are really reliable. I'll post again once I do some research and get more of an idea on what I'm looking for.

Riding comfortably is NOT what sportbikes are made for FYI.

Certain sportbikes have even been described as "Torture Racks" (Usually the Italian ones )

ducatis and honda RC51s seem to get the torture rack title slapped on them the most.

with a sportbike you either like the seating position or you dont ride one. Some are not too bad and some are hideous. they are a lot less "one size fits all" than cruisers.

Sportbikes don't adapt to you, you adapt to them. If you have trouble figuring out that what means, you need to consider a different bike.

I know sport bikes aren't made for comfort. But I have heard from a few friends that the standard ones are more comfortable. I'm thinking of getting a standard or a cruiser. I'm about to check out the honda website in a few minutes.

I'm thinking about a ninja 250 or a 500. Not sure if I'll be able to do a 250, since I might be too big for it. I'll find out once I go to a dealership to find out which fits me most.
