Sorry to hear this happening.
Similar happened to me one night. Had left my bike parked in a dark street in the town center to enjoy a friday night out. Came back, and the fuel stick was turned on, and the carb had spilled half the petrol tank on the street already.
To clarify why, my carb is hand primed by a small lever that fills the float bowl. If you push the lever long enough, the float needle can't handle the flow, and the fuel keeps flooding out.
As if that wasn't bad enough, try starting a flooded two stoke on a night that was 86 degrees. Dressed in leathers and a helmet bump starting in the middle of town for half an hour sucks!
