I had no idea so many bikers were also geeks. oldskool geeks for that matter.
My first computer was an 80286 w/640k. With the 'turbo' on it reached a staggering 12 mhz.
At the time it was the coolest thing ever. Now I have to stare into a damn computer screen all day, everyday. the novelty has worn off. please make them go away.

The first computers I used were in this order - First - a mainframe at the college through a teletype terminal. There was no screen - you typed it in on paper and the computer responded by printing its response. You could only play MUD type games since graphics were out of the question.
Next I learned on a TRS80 and Commidor PET. Hard to imagine having to load programs off a casette tape. Personal disk drives were exotic. Internet was only at the college. HTTP, WWW, and Java were a long way away.
Then I found the amazing start to it all - the 8088. It started the real personal computer revolution. Around this same time I had a chance to play with an Apple2e, which used a television as a monitor. You could even play early video games on this one. I thought Apple would never make it with this video game box. The Mac was still not in existence.
I can remember when I thought IRC was so amazing. It only had geeks in it becasue no normal person would go through the hassle to configure the thing. Now with ICQ anyone can get it working. I sort of miss when IT was only for the most geeky geeks. Now almost anyone can join geekdom.

You went in too late. I'm in bed at 12am when I have work in the morning (most days). Plus not many people can figure out IRC. Come, stay, idle a while.

Ahh, Space Quest. I remember watching my dad play that but he'd never let me play for some reason (some humor not for kids I guess?). I really should try to find a download or an emulator and some roms or something.
