Unfortunately, most red-light cams don't work that way. No video. When their motion sensors detect a vehicle entering the intersection against a red light, it just snaps a couple of photos of the vehicle, with the red traffic light in the background. The only time they take a photo is when they detect a violation.

you could show up to court with the ticket in your hand and dispute it i think if you got it from a camera. i just got one in my truck, but mine showed how fast i was going through the intersection and showed how long the light had been red before the camera detected the violation.

I get stuck all the time in Cali....especially with the newer lights with the ground sensors. I run to the damn crosswalk and then run back.

You can always buy the illegal strobe lights thingamabobbers that law enforcement use to change the lights....especially the motor units. its a small light that you can hit the light sensor with on top of the intersection to change it....dont ask me where you buy it though cuz i dont know. ebay would be my first look.

other than that do what everyone else says.

if red light cameras are the problem- get some kind of "quick clips" for your # plate and stop at the intersaction with camera. take off plate, run light, reattach plate. they gotta know where to send those tickets too and ithout a # plate they dont know who you are.

[/bad idea]

However, if you get caught with one of those things you get a hefty fine, and they will eventually catch if you use it all the time. Guy around here got caught with one of the radio frequency ones (no little birdy that watches the ground, never seen them anywhere else but Seattle [I've lived all over]) because the guys at the DOT or whatever noticed a pattern, however it took them three years to figure it out. The guy gladly paid the fine and took his punishment. I figure he saved a whole lot more money than what he paid for the fine just in gas/time/etc.
