(Nelson voice) Haha! Don't you know that bums pee in those so whenever anyone uses it they spread urine all over their cars/your helmet?

...and then they ask you to pay 'em to lick it off.

At least, that's what the bums around here do.

Well, what they should do.

I dunno if they actually reflect light or not but the fact that they scratch if you look at them wrong prevents me from getting one. I have a dark tinted visor and it shades me just fine.

Tinted shield is much nicer than clear+sunglasses IMO. I carry a clear shield for night (it takes me 1 minute 20 seconds to swap... I timed myself yesterday)...
That's cool. I didn't realize they were that easy to change. Mirror would look pretty neat. Do these things have the UV protection and all that?

Don't mess with the mirrored visors. If you want to cut down on glare, use a dark smoke tinted visor, but you'll only want to use it during the day. Clear only at night.

Update: I picked up a light tinted visor and can wear it on sunny days with sunglasses as well or by itself on overcast days. Evenings are okay with it.

I had to re-borrow a helmet the other day, the one with the mirrored visor. Well, it was great while the sun was out and alright when rained later on. But later, on the road at night (riding in the city too with streetlights and no rain, dry streets) it was terrible. Like riding with my dark sunglasses on at night. :(

I can't wait to get my helmet and tinted visor back. I'll try to stick with clear and sunglasses in the interim in case I am caught out at night again.

Answer is the same as always. Its about preference. Mirrored shields are used like tinted shields. Some like the look some don't. I wouldn't worry about scratching. People put chrome all on their bike, and I never seen a road that cleans and shines your chrome as your ride.

My last clear shield got scratched while riding from flying debris. If you like the mirrored look get one, and just take care not to scratch it. Tinted or mirrored I think is a must if you ride in a sunny places. Sunglasses may help glare but it doesn't protect all that face skin that is exposed through your visor. I have two shields and only carry the clear if I will be riding at night.

Jeeze, maybe no married guys on this board. Mirrored shield (or sun glasses ) serve an important function. The ability to look at someone with thaqt someone or others nearby to see your eyes.

Nothing worse than having your wife notice you do a double take on some eye candy.

Mirrored lenses are for your protection!
