wont be getting that bandit, the seller was suspect. After stating on his auction that he would accept cashiers checks or money orders (only way I would ever pay for a bike off of ebay) he demanded immediate payment via paypal, sight unseen.

Sorry but I only pay for cars and bikes face to face and only after I have seen the vehicle.

Im trying to find a used SV650, FZ6, or 599. I found a real nice 05 SV650S today, even got to test ride it. Great riding bike, but couldn't take that riding position for more than a few minutes.

Im leaning most heavily towards the SV at the moment, but want a naked one not the S. The SV was not indimidating at all, though still WAY faster than my old honda. I loved the handling response and the torqey engine, and it was still very easy to ride at low speed.

I still would like to test ride a 599 or FZ6, I have never ridden a 4 cylinder bike so I have no idea of how it would compare to a twin (what im used to riding).

I have noticed that naked SV650s are tough to find used and S models are common as can be.

In about a year I'm planning to get a V-strom... but if when I'm strom shopping I encounter a bandit at a good price I'm not sure I'll be able to resist the temptation. I've seen a few and they look really nice, plus the prices are sane.

if you're in the states like me you'll have a hard time finding a bandit unless its used, or last year or earlier. dont know why they didnt make a bandit for 06 to release in the US.

but.....if you DO find a bandit and a vstrom sit on both. go back and forth. the ergonomics on the vstrom are hard to beat with how comfortable and upright the seating position is. not trying to be biased but i love my vstrom.

Yep, they are all used now ... but I've seen some '02/'03 models that looked great and were very reasonably priced.

I like the v-strom 'cause I want to do dual sport touring, and I like the seating position and ergos... but the bandits comfortable too in a different way.

I have no idea why they never caught on in the US... to my eye they look awesome and they seem very capable.

because they dont have fairings. Standards are not that popular here (though they are getting more popular).

Naked bikes are just now starting to get popular in the states, with the whole euro streetfighter craze. I've always loved nakeds, especially the bandit (without out the god-awful front fairing).

actually, the bandits DO have fairings. its one of those bikes that looks very cool either naked or faired.

Im really thinking im going to get that SV650S that I test rode. Ill just get used to the more aggressive riding position (and theres always adjustable risers and rearsets available for it so I can fine tune the riding position), the bike is about perfectly suited for the type of riding I want to do and the price is good.
