What do you mean about a "Keeper Bike"?? Do you mean most owners keep or hold on to this bike, never selling or trading it in? Could you name some other bikes that are " Keeper Bikes"??,, btw: I know the 05 and 06 Suzuki M50 isn't high on the list as a "keeper bike" huh?

you know- like suzuki bikes all suck so they would not be keeper bikes.

i meant that the 250 catches flak as a "starter bike that you'll get bored of and want to get rid of" but thats not true, they are cool bikes and can be good for the long haul not just as a "first few months of riding".


shouldnt you be cleaning the mud out of your radiator? gotta get that thing clean if people are paying to ride with you.

I got my bike today it was pretty sweet. I didn't get a chance to take pics I was too busy trying to learn how to start without stalling and braking. I'll try to get some pics taken either tonight or tommorow depending on if my digital camera has any battery left.

I was bummed out, like an hour into it I scrubbed and drop the bike. Nothing serious the bike was going very slow. All the damage was to replaceable parts like some scratches on my clutch hangle, handle bar end, a scratch on my peg stand, there was a scratch on the top part of the fairing but if I throw some black paint on it, you won't notice. I was practicing in the parking lot of my apartment complex, I tought I had it all figured out on how to start without stalling. When a couple cars pulled up behind me, I was in the middle of the road so they had to wait for me in order to pass. I felt kind of rushed, so I tried to get my bike started up. I got it ready to go, I released the clutch and it lurched forward like I had released the clutch to fast. But instead of just pullling the clutch to stop it from going forward being some what panicked I released the clutch and pulled on the throttle. The bike shot out from underneath me, I was on the bike for about .5 seconds and then it dropped like 6-7 feet infront of me. The driver behind me came out and asked me if I was hurt, I waved him off and said no, but what I really meant to say was "only my self esteem." It sucked to mess up my first bike but I guess now I know what it's like to pick up the bike. I'm comfortable riding around in the parking lot, but once a car shows up I get very nervous. After that happened I was alot more cautious almost to the point where I kept stalling the bike because I was afraid it would happen again. I guess I just gotta sleep it off. But one things for sure I'm glad I learned this mistake on a Ninja EX250 rather than an R6 or 749 like I had initially planned on buying prior to visiting this forum. If I was on one of those bikes I probably would have hit a parked car or slammed it into a curb.

Sigh now I'm paranoid someone will steal my bike. I bought one of those huge Mr. T chains with the massive lock Superman couldn't break. My housemate also got a brand new Ninja and we've parked them so they're back tire to back tire. I've put the lock inbetween the spoke of each bike and chained them together.

i was like that too last january when i started.

when a car shows up i get really nervous and super careful. i also dropped mine during practice but it didn't bother me as much since it was very minor and nothing had to be replaced.

anyway... keep practicing and pretty soon, you'll be hitting the streets, then freeways, then canyons.

BTW... those 250s are small, i bet you could store it in your living room.

That's exactly why we recommend lower power bikes for noobs. The mistake you made is very common with new riders. I've seen it happen twice in the last year to noobs on 100 hp bikes and their results weren't nearly as mild as yours. 1/2 second of inadvertent throttle will launch a high powered bike like a rocket.

One of the noobs I watched launched his VTX1800 across a busy intersection (without him on it). The other (on a sportbike) stayed on it as it crossed a street diagonally, jumped a curb and ran into a tree. Both of them were new riders that felt rushed for one reason or another.
