he bike yeah... but everything else, i own them already and shelled out lots of money to buy them up front.
Other than toys, what do you own? Do you own a house? Property? Have any money put away in a retirement account?

Toys may be fun, but you have to start looking towards the future.

I wouldn't mind getting a 250 but I dont like the sportbike look. Nighthawk 250s look nice though.

The best remedy for that is to buy a Ninja and remove all of the plastic. There's a perfectly good standard motorcycle under all that stuff. People may call it a sportbike because of the plastic, but it's actually a standard. I saw one a few weeks ago with the plastic removed and it didn't even hint at being a sportbike.

The little Nighthawk is in a different league when it comes to 250 performance. It's a great around town bike, but the power and suspension pale in comparison to the little Ninja. You wouldn't have nearly as much fun as that guy in the article if you took a Nighthawk 250 on the same road trip.

I'm really amazed that the Nighthawk retails for several hundred more than the EX250 (and it still sells).

You said it yourself. It's more about image than performance for some people. Fortunately those of us who favor both the sportbike image and the superior performance of the ninja 250 over other bikes in its class...well, we get to have our cake and eat it too now don't we.

although, if it were really about image for a ninja 250 rider, they would get something in the 600+ range instead anyway. am i right or am i right?

I'm with you there CNF. I'd love to own the Nighthawk 250 some day, what a beautiful bike.

ive never ridden a ninja 250, but i have ridden my honda 360, and other small displacement bikes. Having owned and ridden all of those, and currently owning a fj1200, i have to say:

its so much more fun riding a slow bike fast, then a fast bike slow.

I just rode a 200cc vespa 35 miles, on 45 minutes, over very hilly, curvy back roads, and man, what a blast!

So yea, it doesnt even have to be a full blown motorcycle. I seriously came close to dragging a knee on that that is the engine cowl wasnt in the way

i've ridden a rebel for a short time and i've ridden a GZ250 on the MSF.

i didn't enjoy both of them.

i wouldn't mind riding/owning a small cc sportbike though. im just biased for sportbikes.

NOTE: i don't consider the EX250, 500, and GS500F to be sportbikes.

i dont know how much those bikes weigh, but what makes the small bike ive ridden a blast is the fact they weight like 300 pounds, or in the case of the vespa, 150,
