I own a 05 M50. When I went to buy a new bike I made up my mind with either a Yamaha or Honda 1100, ended up buying the M50. What I liked about it is the cool looks and styling, and the postion of the speedometer, and the much lower price. The dealer told me the M50 is just as fast and quick as the 1100, and I took his word for it. I took it for a test ride and loved the quick acceleration. Now looking back I made a mistake, I hate myself for not buying the 1100. The M50 is a great bike if ur not planning a lot of miles or long trips, it has a lean forward, stretching out ur whole body riding postion and nobody could handle that posture for any non-stop riding over 50 miles. I ride with Hondas VTX1800's and Yamaha 1100's and the M50 can't keep up.

The M-50 has a more aggressive seat position than the C-50. Both will compete quite well with the V-Star 1100 and will be a helluva lot easier to change the oil on. The M-50 & C-50 are not going to compete with the VTX1800 as some knuckleheads would lead you to believe.

I have an Intruder which is the precursor to the Volusia and the Boulevard 50 series . I have absolutely no problem running with HD's or any of the larger metrics . Also I have had no mechanical problems , hence the reason I refuse to put my custom hand tooled leather saddle bags on it .
My spousette has a Maurader which is chain driven and I do notice that the acceleration is somewhat quicker with the chain as opposed to my shaft drive , but once we get up to speed there is no difference then .
Altho there is very little that is stock on Miz Thang , it is one of the most comfortable scoots that I've ever owned .
This Friday I am going to drain all of my fluids and replace them . Especially the radiator . I am going to put in Water Wetter because we are running triple digits as far as our local temperature goes and Water Wetter will allow the scoot to run a good 20° 's cooler . Will just have to remember to change to anti-freeze when winter comes .
As far as making the scoot comfortable there are many after market parts available to customize it to fit anyone's needs .
Best regards, Wizzard

I ran water wetter in my LBPOSSC (little british um um um sports car) and while it helped it never dropped the temps by 20 degrees.
....
The M50 is an 800cc bike... that it will come close to running with 1100s is a sign of good design. It would be really silly to expect it to accelerate with 1800cc bikes....though in the end everybody has the same speed limit.
I'll let ya know if it keeps my fan from coming on or not ......

Had a 160+ mile non-stop trip a few weeks ago without any problem. Actually...the only problem was I had to stop and head home to go mow the lawn. Other than that, I was feeling GREAT! Stock seat, stock pegs, Stockard Channing... err...I mean.
I have heard a few people complain about the bracket you can feel in the back part of the stock seat...right near your tailbone. I, myself, do not notice it. A lot of the people that have noticed it, though, have lowered their bikes 3 or so inches in the back. Not sure if that's causing the riding position to be changed just enough to cause this or not.
I'm terrible and haven't had it done yet...
I've heard anywhere from $150-$350...depends on what all they check/change and such. I've heard that they change the oil and such, and check the valves. I've heard other people say that the valves only need to be checked if you're hearing a noise. I've heard other people say that valves don't really exist and it's just a conspiracy our government is working on for all of us to believe. Okay...I may have made that last one up...
I ride with a stock, "no mods" Yamaha 1100 and my M50 can't keep up even with full throttle and dropping some gears, MAX and I mean MAX speed is 105 mph, thats slow for any bike. The M50 would be better if I can get somebody to make me a set of risers or some higher and back handlebars, you can't buy any serious accessories for it.
