I wear custom earplugs , the same as blues2cruise wears. They are the best type of plugs I've ever worn, and trust me, I've worn plenty.
I was at one time employed in a sawmill, as well as previously working in a steel fab shop. During the years at these jobs I've tried everything from wax plugs to rolled cotton.
I found that after a while, any plug that had to be compressed to fit, caused pain in the ear canal after a short period of time.
Even those baffled ones caused pressure in the ear that eventually turned to pain. The custom plugs "fit" your ear and don't expand or cause pressure in the ear canal.

Where did you get the customs from? Or did you make them yourself from a kit? I saw that Walmart sells a kit in the hunting section for $12 that lets you make custom ones.

You can get them from many different dealer/salesreps across Canada and the USA. I got mine when I was at the local bike show in January a couple of years ago. A tech will usually make a no charge fitting when 10 or more people are making a purchase at the same time, at your place of business, club meeting, etc...
