His license plate says Dr. Gruv 1, kind of takes away from my pity for him. Also, the jacket sticking out of the trunk makes the car look like a face with a tongue.

On the topic of what to do if a car is coming up behind you and not stopping.
I'm wondering if you are sure that the car behind you isn't going to stop and your on a bike. Wouldn't it be faster/safer to drop the bike and run ? Bike parts can be replaced human parts can't be.
Altho, if the car does stop that could be embarrasing.
I would also think that dropping the bike and running would only work if theres only one lane. You don't want to run into a lane only to be hit by someone else.

MrGrompers, if you've positioned yourself correctly you should be able to lane split between two cars using the cars as a barrier between you and the run away car. Sucks for those other cars, but I can live with that...
If you are on a one lane road, you could swerve into the shoulder if that is an option

This is probably the most practical ideas I've read in a while.
Thanks! Just starting out, this is good to know.

Thats a dam good idea I'll have to file that away in the cranium.
I was orginally thinking of a situation where you were at the head of the pack waiting in line. One's options would seem limited in that case.

somethin like that happened to my uncle.....he was driving an 18 wheeler!
he was on some big freeway going speed limit...60-65...when a hummer going faster than that....80-100+ hits him on the back and he somehow gets stuck and the truck is now dragging him.
there was a case like that with a bike too....i read it somewhere...
cruiser is at a red light....an 18 wheeler with no cargo runs him over....he dies.
it's sad how stupid/drunk some ppl are.

I'm glad you found that helpful. I'm a new rider myself (only 2500 miles under my belt) and I'm trying to gleam as much info from the messageboards as well as other riders I meet along the way.
