beautiful! i had decided against using charlie foxtrot on an earlier post for fear no one would understand it.

Every 600 to 1000 miles I lube my chain. Every 3 or 4 lubing times I'll run the chain cleaner across the chain (a little tool that wraps around the chain and lets you spray lube in while the chain is moving). I'm on the factory chain and just passed 18,000 miles. My chain has only been adjusted during tire changes. I think you can definately over do that process - I think. Too much is better than not enough, but too much is still too much.

what's this "chain cleaner"?

well considering I dont lube my chain enough already, cause I'm too busy riding it and have no rear stand to make it easy, would this be a good idea for me? Heck, a nice chain cleaning scrubber like for pedal bikes would be excellent, throw some kerosene in there once I get a rearstand (or make one, welders are fun) and spin the wheeltill the chain looks pretty. But since I have some rust on my chain (evidence I dont lube enough) and a bottle of this white lube stuff, I think I'll run through this bottle, see how much a new chain is, maybe a gold or blue chain, and try to maintain with better stuff next time.

As of yesterday I've probably been lubing every 600-800 miles using Dupont Wax+Teflon spray. I've adjusted chain tension three times (once at 500 miles, once when I swapped the front sprocket, and a final time when I swapped the rear sprocket)... by the end of 4400mi the chain was lookin pretty black and grungy. Yesterday I soaked down the chain with WD40 and wiped al the caked lube/dirt off, then re-lubed the chain. It looks shiney new again.
