And I can already guess what Verm will say about riding a 999 that's not an R (something to do with the horsepower I'm sure).
yeah i know that. i saw the stuff they do to stock bikes to make it an AMA race bike.

but still, the 999R has a good start... but w/ the price difference... i could make a GSX-R1000 a really great trackbike for the price difference between the 999R.

so yeah, i would like to rent or try the 999R, but i don't see myself buying it even if i do somehow got the money for it.

regarding the normal 999R... i know about it. i'd try it too if i can. but definitely won't buy one.

I think I would take the Kawasaki ZX-14 out for a spin, eather that or a Suzuki SV-1000 (what I would have bought if I didn't buy my buell).

Edit: Wierd, I just got a quote on progressive auto insurance and it quoted me 1100$/year for my buell, but wanted to charge me 2200$/year for a sv-650 suzuki, I guess my bike was the better choice seeing the insurance difference.

For $35,000 you could make two really good track bikes...and have some left over.
2000 Kawasaki Ninja EX500R (Sold)
2006 Suzuki SV650S (Stolen 4/08, recovered 12/08, sold 3/09)
2004 Suzuki SV650S (Sold)

Being bikeless SUCKS!!!

for the cost of a bare bones basic ducati 999 (non R model) you could build a kick "O Ring" GSXR-1000 track bike.

Hell you could get an Aprilia RSV factory for less than a barebones ducati 999 (the RSV factory has all the same extra race spec goodies as the 999R but is cheaper than the duc)

the RSV has been redone for 06. looks even better now and is up to 143hp for both base and factory models.

You do realize that the difference between these bikes is not going to make a difference in your lap times (if you get to the track) right?

Obviously the base 999 is for wankers......
