Now that's a cool idea. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!

Been there, done that. When I was a noob I had a full face helmet without a shield (don't ask. I was a noob). I took a wasp through the open face and it went past the comfort foam and lodged in the ear area. It stung my ear twice before I could wobble to a stop and tear that helmet off. I'll bet it looked pretty funny to that cars passing by

I know what you mean. Sometimes you can find some good stuff that's reasonably priced. But more often than not the logo triples the price.
WileyX makes a great pair of glasses that have thet little foam on them around the lenses. The lenses are interchangeable (clear, Smoke, yellow) and the frames can be made into goggles.

Glad to hear you're getting better! Of all things that can't be repaired or replaced, the eye is the one I would hate to lose most.

I've never seen a dirtbiker that didn't wear goggles with his helmet. It's not so much safety gear as it is making sure you can see if the guy in front of you kicks up mud.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

And how is that not safety gear?
My grandparents used to live in the desert. I was the only one riding down there and there's not much dust unless the wind kicks up REALLY bad (in which case you're not riding anyway). Goggles weren't exactly mandatory.

Goggles, sunglasses, it's essentially the same idea...
Besides, no one said they were mandatory, but they are "common sense" smart to wear. All it takes is a couple grains of sand to get in your eyes and you're out of commission for a couple of days with a scratched cornea.
Even the biggest no helmet squids still wear sunglasses partially to keep crap out of their eyes and partially to look cool. So the question is, are teh squids smarter then you?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
