when practicing your high acceleration take offs, remember to check for idiots running the red, or let the car beside you lead into the lane and then take off.
on a bike it's really easy to get a good take off and leave everyone a quarter mile back. the problem comes when the meathead you smoked off the line catches up to you and cuts you off if you aren't expecting it.
Also, blasting off the line can be considered "stunting" (at least that's the term the cops here use) and can mean a fine and possibly some points on your license.
on the ex250, if i want a good blast off, i shift it around 7-9k. i could probably red line it, but it's a pretty quick shift anyway.
