i don't worry about it, it's happening even if i don't think too much about it.kabob983 wrote:Worry about it when you get to the track and you actually start taking corners fast enough to warrant hanging off the bike. Trust me on this one, if you do a track day with decent riders and you spend all your time hanging off the bike when your ride is still aimed almost vertical...you're going to get some laughs.
If you were hitting those corners 50% faster and leaning the bike, THEN you move on to shifting your weight. It shouldn't come first, it should come second...
anyway, in your 2nd point... hanging off the bike can mean the difference between lowsiding or not. you can take corners at just as fast w/ less lean angle if you're hanging off the bike.
this was brought up last skillzday, a rider lowsided, she ran out of lean angle and they said she wasn't hanging off the bike. if she was hanging off, she could done the same speed w/o the lowside.
i've rode w/ guys who attend trackdays. one of them volunteered to stay behind me. he's a vet, riding for more than 25yrs, he does both canyons and racetracks.
so anyway, when we stopped, i asked him for tips. he said im looking good and he asked how long i've been riding. i said less than a year and he said i look good for someone riding in less than a year. he told me to just practice more and get more confidence.
he's a vet trackday guy, he didn't laugh at me, he even complimented me.
