Absolutely your car could tow it. I had a 1991 Plymouth Sundance FWD with a small 4 cylinder engine and a hitch, and it could tow a full UHaul trailer (one of the 5x9s I think) across the country...your car could easily tow your bike on a small trailer like that.

18mpg? What kind of car do you have? You just bought this one used right? A few things you should do to any recently purchased used car as soon as you get it (in my opinion):

-Replace fuel filter
-Replace air filter (or at least check it/blow it out)
-Change oil/filter
-Check or change transmission fluid
-Maintain proper tire pressure according to the owner's manual
-Replace spark plugs
-While you've got em out, check compression (if it wasnt already done by a preinspection mechanic on your bill)

All of these are basic maintenance items that should be performed regularly. On a used car of course you have no way of verifying that any of it was done at the proper intervals so its always best just to spend a little money and do it.

Meanwhile; mods? I'm guessing you have a mid-90's 4-banger...get rid of any mods, they are worthless. Any kind of bypasses or chips or resistor chips, get rid of em! They just kill your mileage and dont do anything to improve performance.

If you have an oversized muffler on it, replace it with a stock one.

hey VERM...on a different note. Why would you want to trailer your bike? From everything I can tell...man you love that thing! I am of the mind set...the bike is for riding...only in a trailer when it is broke. Of course I have not ridden a bike like yours for any long distance...might not be the most comfortable.

thanks for the tip guys.

yeah, i got it used. im fine w/ buying a used car unlike buying a used bike, unless it's gonna be my secondary backup bike.

i will take my car to my mechanic sometime since it also needs freon.

CNF,

i have a mazda MX-6... the one w/ the 2.5 liter engine instead of the 2.0. and it's a V6.

Locopez,

im gonna need a trailer for trackdays or for out of state trips. RR bikes are not really meant for touring. i do know some peeps tour w/ it.

I just don't know what to say.... I'm not even sure which I find most shocking, that Verm didn't know his car could trailer a bike, or the fact he wants to trailer it instead of ride :|

having a trailer is very important for trackdays.

and i can tour w/ my bike... i just have to rest every 100-200 miles.

but really, touring will kill my tires and i don't want to use sport touring tires.

Its alot of fun though. You should try a good long trip to see how you like it. A few hundred miles or so.

Verm....hey I can see it. Setting up the bike for track day.....not that I know much about those events. But I know....a little. Like I said earlier...I have no idea what it is like to tour on one of those bikes.

Tipping the scales at 180 lbs, this one will almost fit in your trunk... almost. Think you could tow that little baby? With optional floor boards, it's not a bad little rig. Pick one up at their factory in Richmond Ca
