I got both my motorcycle and drivers license at 18, bought a cheap 250 months later due to much higher cost of insurance and limited parking with 3 family owned cars.

After almost 3 years I have become more aware of what's around me while driving/ riding in which this case riding a motorcycle taught me not to be reckless when operating any vehicle.

My mom was ok with it after she saw the precautions I took with armor all the while of me being independent from them when it came to payments and maintenance.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

I don't have kids, but I am going to guess it's about caring for your safety. She's your mom! I had parents, too!!

I do think that learning to drive a car on the road first would be helpful. Also taking the class would show mom you are serious.

At the end - promise her you will wear your gear, and not follow your friends into doing "dangerous" stunts.

What you all don't realize is that your attempts to convince a 16-year-old to respect his parents and think logically are futile. 16-year-olds are stupid.
