I am a big racing fan and have always liked the looks of sportsbikes however I find them less appealing the older I get. Streetfighters and nakeds are what I prefer to ride and look at as they have all of the performance but none of the plastic.
I have never liked cruisers as to me they seem built for posing on. You can ride a fast bike slow but not t'other way round...

I wasn't sure what style of bike I wanted at first so I got a Honda CX500C which was a cruiser-ish UJM. Was a decent bike for me to learn on and was easier to ride than the 125 dual sport I took the MSF on, also got it for really cheap. The more I rode it the more I was wishing for something sportier, I found out that I really love twisties and in june I sold my CX and picked up the Bandit 600 that im riding now.
I got the bandit because the price was reasonable, and at the time I still found sportbikes to be a tad uncomfortable. Even the bandit felt like it had an aggressive riding position at first since I was used to the bolt upright UJM position from my CX500. The more I rode the bandit the more I liked the more aggressive riding position.
Now I find sportbikes to actually be resonably comfortable (not all, ducatis are still torture racks), and am looking at one to replace the bandit with. For the type of riding I like to do a sportbike is about perfect

Our previous bike was a 2001 V-Star 1100 Classic. We rode that two up for 14,000 km. We met an unfortunate fate with that bike. That's another story. Anyhow, when we went to replace it. We thought Goldwing. Comfort for the long haul
Went into the dealership in October of '02. Our current bike ('01 Goldwing) was sitting there beside the new '03's. Had a reduced price by $6,500 CDN compared to the new '03's. That was enough to make up our minds.

I just knew I did NOT want a cruiser or anything to do with Harley Davidson. (Sorry just encountered too many obnoxious posers who seem to delight more in annoying everyone around them and showing off their chrome than in riding).
I like a bike that LOOKs like a motorcycle, with the engine visible under the tank, instead of hidden by plastic.
I ended up with the BMW because the folks at the BMW booth took me seriously when I was shopping.

posing works well too on sportbikes...
just look at the smiles on troy corser and yukio kagiyama's faces.

i would. im not into the whole T&A thing.
