Back in the 70s, highway speed limits were throttled back to 55 across most of the country in response to the fuel crisis.

Many places have slowly raised them up to 60, 65, or 70.

There appears to be no significant correlation between highway speed limit and highway fatalities.

What I'm saying is that fatalities can be curbed greatly by rigid enforcement of existing rules, including the speed limit. Whether the speed limit is 55 or 70, I think more rigid enforcement of this, along with more rigid enforcement of lange changing rules, etc, will help.

The only thing people are talking is speeding tickets. What about tickets from running red lights, failure to yield, etc.?

I don't believe going to 5 over really makes much of a difference in your risk of an accident, but running a stop light surely does.
