Are these things hardtails?

Most models I looked at had full suspension. Just have the hard-tail look.

Ride whatever you want that makes you happy but I would like to see you learn to ride a regular motorcycle while learning to ride I think you should learn to shift. I ride alot of atvs with CV trannys, I think they suck (slippage) and thats why I got a Honda with a full automatic transmission that also allows me to run in a electric shift program, which is my choice.
Part of riding to me is working an engine thru its powerband with the proper dhifting of the tranny.
The ridley seems to be made well but the dimensions and overall scale look small and unbalanced.

+1 It not what they ride, but that they do it safely and if an automatic is what it takes for some one to enjoy being on the road then so be it. It shouldn't take away from "being a rider" that means diffrent things to diffrent people anyways.

If you watch Corbin's Ride On, they have played a segment about the Ridley several times in the last season. Looks like an OK bike and it's a decent size.
Cars now have CVT trannies so there should be no concerns regarding reliability.

I was saying the due to the fact that bike is an auto the experiance needed to hop and and go drops. That's all...I doubt, in the grand scheme of things, I'll ever even run into one of these on the road.
The squid factor does go up thogh, you can't deny that. All you need with these is balance and we all learn that as kids riding our BMXs, plus stopping is all break...dangerous. What can I say...I don't like'em.I take back waht I said...I don't want to ride one...I'll just make a good ole' uninformed bias decision to dislike based on assumption!

Ok, there are some accessible dealerships. One of the DRA guys out in Oregon has mentioned several times about the lack of service available.
Verm, you can't clutchless shift for every move you make on the bike, and I do clutchless now. Keeping myself with only that skill set is very limiting, I'm actually hoping to get on with it and not be dependent on clutchless shifting
As for the squid factor going up for riding a Ridley, that's utter bullshit. But if it makes you feel like a man and "real biker", you're entitled to your thoughts.
And I guess you don't really mean what your signature line implies - or is that strictly a brand name thing?

Aren't these exactly the same transmissions that are in Scooters???
I wouldn't look down on someone who only rides a bike with an automatic box...
...anymore than I'd look down on someone who dos'nt know how to drive a manual car...
Shorts, I forgot to ask Dawn about her klicktronic last tinme I spoke to her, but I will! - Promise!
Oh and Honda presents...

(You just cannot beat a Honda!)

how about the quickshifter?
just try... maybe someone can rig one for your bike.
