i bet this problem isn't such a big deal. the news guys probably just couldn't find good story to tell so they just dug up this beaten to death topic.
You're probably right.

There's no issue here at all.
there is an issue.

but it seems to me like it's overhyped by the media.

2 accidents a day isnt a big deal? These bikers should have their bikes taken away from them...there has to be something law enforcement can do. If they are exceeding the speed limit (by 10+mph) they are severely breaking the law. I don't care how experienced they are. They should not be racing on a public road. It is a big deal. Maybe it wouldn't be a 'beaten to death topic' if you stupid sportbikers would stop breaking the freaking law (no offense to the law-biding majority among us).

I know you like to race in the canyons yourself, V...sorry to say, but people like you should have their licenses revoked.

How do you overhype *2 accidents a day caused by bikers* on a single stretch of highway?!

What do you think racing is?

Heres a couple of questions for you Verm:

1) Would you ride those speeds on a twisty when there is other traffic and blind curves? Or would you take it to a track?

2) If it was you out there in a car and haven't ridden would you look at them as if they are horrible and then see the results of their riding like that and not get angry?

3) Could you live with yourself riding at those speeds on the twisty and being reckless and causing harm to another human being?

I am sure none of these riders can and have to live with it and have learned the lesson the hard way.

Have a great one and ride safe

2) If it was you out there in a car and haven't ridden would you look at them as if they are horrible and then see the results of their riding like that and not get angry? i've always enjoyed fast speeds. so nope, it woudln't bother me even if im not a rider. always thought bikes were cool so i'll probably be jealous.

No, racing is going fast for the sake of it. I can race without racing against anyone.

I'm sorry V but that is an extremely irresponsible, immature, and heartless response. Everyone on the road has a responsibility to maintain the rules to ensure the safety of others. Anyone thrill-seeking at the danger of themselves on public property or anyone other than themself should rightly lose the privilege to operate a motor vehicle.
