according to jeopardy today, texas has counties larger then some states....

go figure...

Its a very pointy state....Ill stick to provinces....

I also feel bad for the kids in your geography classes...I had enough trouble remembering the provinces/territories and their captials let alone how ever many states there are...

What's wrong with Texas? I'd kinda like to visit it, along with New Mexico, Arizona, New York, Alaska and most of all Montana.

I quite like that southern drawl. :)

Going through school, we didn't ever press to memorize counties (that'd be wild). The times where we did it was for battles and the major historical happenings. Of course now, the larger more prominent counties are easily recognizable.

Looking at county maps is vision blurring. Dad has been with the NRCS here in TX and over the last 6 years or so they've gradually switched to a new database, this called for a whole remap if the state. I was contracted work on the project, drawing surrgo maps and transferring soils from text to mylar. It took years - there are a lot of counties in TX.

Been there, even for a native Coloradoan it was amazing. We were there for two weeks, rented a motorhome to drive around in. Wow... Anyway yeah, it took us two solid days of driving to get from Denali National Park to Valdez, and that's about a quarter of the way across the state!

PS I wanna visit Texas too sometime, it'd be fun I think!

I like it here in Texas. Beautiful, friendly women, great Mexican food, best BBQ, diverse geography, and Riding (and golf) weather 12 months a year. And Delawares got what? Oh yeah, that punch.

Delaware isn't a bad state. The only bad thing about Delaware is Holiday is there.

Trust me, you don't want to visit New Mexico. NOBODY actually likes new mexico, the only people who live there were born there, and the only people who visit, are driving through it to go to another state. New mexico is gross, lots of trash... everywhere. You can be in the middle of the desert in new mexico, and there willl still be trash all over the place.
