If I was you I wouldn't act like it's a big deal, it's a Windshield not a Prison sentence after all.
Your lucky your Dad will buy you M/C stuff.
Accept the gift with good Grace & see how it goes. Look for a really wicked one that will make your bike look awesome.
Then if your not able to live with it, take it off & perhaps just use it for when you go touring?
You may discover the benefits of screen if you give it a chance. I did.

Glad you found a good dealer to work with- they're few and far between here. I was a bike salesman for a
short, short time. I couldn't believe the level of dishonesty and manipulation that was required to get a paycheck! I really tried to get my customers good deals, and sometimes my fellow salesmen tried to undercut my deal even though the price was not possible! They also just wanted to get people in the door, and there was an element of
tell em what they want to hear because they're just shopping around anyway 
. Once they got people through the door, then the real bs started as they tried to talk them into something they didn't want (this is where I'm suprised they didn't try to harrass you into a different bike).

The 599 is a GREAT bike, Honda did a excellent job on it for quality and reliability. Too bad the MSRP was so high from Honda, they could have been #1 sellers here like they are in Europe.

Glad to see you finally get one. Mine is black but when you see the yellow for real it really is a nice colour. Too bad you had a poor sales experience. I'm sure you'll love your new 599 and if you ever plan to head out west look, let me know and I'll take you on some nice rides.
Enjoy and keep the rubber side down.
