This is the post that should have started this thread. The question is, can you handle a litre bike? Or do you even want to?

CBR 600 would be plenty fun on a track, if you don't mind less skilled riders blowing past you on the straights. Are you there for you, or them?

Lots of people with litre bikes who like 'em. Higher insurance, higher fuel costs, as well as initial cost. For what benefit? That's for you to decide.

The 600 is plently on the track, and less experienced riders can't keep up enough in the corners to catch me down the straight after 2 laps.

that first bike you see in the frame is a fully race prepped CBR 1000 superbike.

The big 1300cc Hayabusa vs the little Suzuki 250....There really wasn't a lot of difference in the speed. Granted the Suzuki is revving quite high compared to the Hayabusa, but they were going flat out on a track.

The RGV is a 2-stoke 250 that makes close to 60hp and weighs 370lbs. Not exactly the 4-stroke 250s that roll around in the US. Not a fair to call that a "little 250", because there is no such 250 that exists in the US. And the main difference was the rider on the 250 knew what he was doing... the Hayabusa guy looked like it was his first day riding. Not a good video for "look! 250s are fast too!"... because that is completely unrealistic. That was a good rider vs a crappy rider, and the big bike made the crappy rider win. If that hayabusa guy could launch, the RGV would have been a football field behind him.

Also, I have friends with the CBR600 and 1000. Some people say the 1000 is better for the street only because it is more comfortable (cockpit is a little bigger) than the 600. If you fit on the 600, it would be a better choice. The CBR600RR is one of the best bikes at the track around here.. those riders always have some of the top times.

I would definitely rock a 600RR for my track bike... not to mention, insurance will be a lot cheaper, as well as fuel.

EDIT: Hi-side, that is a sweet video! You're looking good out there. It's gotta hurt the literbike guy's feelings when you are passing them on a 600

It doesnt hurt that I've been racing for 10 years, and was an instructor at the superbike school for 3. And a little fyi, the guy on the R6 that I was working with that you see come in and out of the picture is Johnny Rock Page... He races AMA superstock and supersort, so he's no slouch either.

Most of those guys don't get their feelings hurt. I was playing with a guy on a Busa once riding an FZR400 and it took me 4 laps to finally get enough room for him not to get back past me down the front straight... he was a friend, but he was a little frustrated
