The instructors were told here not to use F.I.N.E.C.C. for about the past 3 years but still, if you learned it and need a check, it helps. There's 2 "c"s - one for choke & one for clutch. :) Yup, still works for a ninja 250

Why? We go over it and use it during the first day though we do switch to valve key thumb to start and thumb key valve to turn off once the day starts going.

I assume it's because it's outdated for a lot of bikes so they don't want to use it. Now you have me wondering exactly why. The last time I dropped in for a visit, it was even written in very large letters on a scrap of paper as a reminder for the instructors that night. The weird part is that for all the class BRC bikes they use almost all still have the fuel on/off switches and a choke. Personally, I found it quite helpful starting out. I'm gonna have to go dig, got me curious.

Haha. So one day I was out for a ride, I made a quick stop at the bank. I go back to my bike and hit my starter button and nothing. I start to wonder why. I check everything, even my sparkplugs and I can't find anything. I was worried I was going to be stuck in a parking lot with no way to get my bike back home.

You know what was up?

My bike wasn't in neutral.

I was so concerned with other things I forgot about my gear position. My bike was in third or something and it refuses to start if I leave it there.

So yeah, FINEC indeed.

It should have started if you had your clutch in. The last C of fine C

I always hold my clutch when I start. Oh well. :)

I always make sure to set my bike to neutral when I park.

That may be ok on flat surfaces but bikes have been known to roll off their side stands. Consider using 1st gear to park.
