This is my wife on her bike:

Whenever we stop, the women come up to her and ask about riding and stuff. I am sure the men notice, but they can't get by the women to cause a problem....

This thread made me chuckle a bit, I have to admit. I am a "forty something" not-so-skinny mom who can not be mistaken for anything but that. When I rode as a passenger with my hubby I didn't get a second look (or a first sometimes!). But now that I ride my own bike, I get attention from menfolk who I KNOW wouldn't even see me if I were walking down the street (ok, I don't look that bad but you know what I mean). There is definitely a "girl on a bike" factor going on a good 99% of the time that I get waves and guys on bikes chatting with me. I try to just take it in stride and enjoy the spirit of it (it's not so bad feeling attractive at this point!). I think a lot of it is just the novelty of seeing a woman in what is still predominantly a man's world and that's how a lot of the silly boys react. I've never actually felt threatened by any of the attention, but then again I spent 10 years in the Air Force (talk about a man's world!). I hope your wife can get used to it. I just always try to assume they are thinking "wow! a woman on a bike! cooooool" and go on my merry way
