i hear ya.

but does it have an index?

Oil and filter changes - my manual says at 1000 km (600 miles), then every 6000 km (umm, 3600 miles?) thereafter. Also before winter storage which around here can be 5 to 6 months long.

Chain lube - when it looks dry, after riding through a rainstorm, every 500-1000 km. I use a chain clean product first, then chain lube, not WD-40

Hope that helps?
Ya right, there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...

This is what I have read on this forum. And as far as I've seen this is the one of the better motorcycle forums with a plethra of knowledgeable and helpful fellow motorist who's experience with bikes range to all brands and makes.

Well, you have come to the RIGHT PLACE! The -= New Bikers Forum =- is the best place to ask questions if you are new (or returning) to motorcycling. Ask ANYTHING at all you want, NO QUESTION is DUMB or stupid, and NO ONE will put you down for asking. If fact, your question (and the great answers it will get) will help other new bikers down the road learn.

So go ahead, be excited and ask ALL THE QUESTIONS that are on your mind! The -= New Bikers Forum =- is just for you to learn and grow in so you can become the best biker you can be!!

Considering there are 44 pages containing thousands of answer/responses in just the NEW BIKERS FORUM it's a bit difficult to sift through to find a match to your own query. Although there prolly is repeat questions, there are always new members joining and it's the first time they are seeing it. Sorry for all the rehashing, but it really can't be helped.

I was kinda hoping to be helped, and not directed to look for answers elsewhere or to help myself by reading/interpretating my manual. A simple, every 3,000 miles or 4 months for an oil change , short, simple and helpful (after skirting the other posts I found this)............................................................................................................................................. :tmwsign:

okay so, moving on.....when is it best to oil my chain? And what type of oil should I use?? Like WD40 or something??? There were so many kinds at the auto place.
The manual didn't cover these types of "good idea to do" maintenance, it covered when to bring in for maintenance, basically what it covers and where to find all the components on the bike. And I don't think owning a different type of bike should make a diffence from someone with a different make on general care.
